Jamaica: Race to Literacy Book Drive

There is a very important Race to Literacy Book Drive Project conducted by the Rotary Club of Jamaica.

CaribLifeCentral.com is joining in this very worth while effort. We are taking an unusual step to make an appeal for the children of Jamaica who are in desperate need of books for the children. We also believe that our members, supporters and people from across the Caribbean will provide their support by contributing books or dollars and by forwarding this note/blog to their friends.

The Scholastic corporation has made available, to the Rotary Race to Literacy Project, some special books for children that provides interactive features and textures. Scholastic not only makes ideal early childhood education books, but they are offering books in their packages that just cannot be sourced locally in Jamaica - books that the experts have advised are ideal for special needs. However, the order must be placed by March 15th, 2010. After March 15th, books for the children will still be bought - and although they are excellent local books, they are few in quantity and regrettably do not have these special features.

One of the offers from a major publisher partner expires on March 15th, 2010. You must act now to get books here in time for May 1, 2010. We need your help. These special books are just not available in Jamaica - English books with textures, and Haitian Creole/English bilingual books. These are separate. Choose whichever you wish.
