Grenada says the establishment of a new hemispheric organisation should not be seen as an attempt to replace the Organisation
of American States (OAS).


Latin American and Caribbean leaders agreed at their Mexico summit this week to set up the Community of Latin America and
Caribbean States. The proposed new body excludes the
United States and Canada, and has been described by analysts and others
as an alternative
to the OAS.


But Grenada's Foreign Minister Peter David has told BBC Caribbean that the intention is not to replace the OAS but to have
"more closer collaboration in other fora".


He also set out to clarify the position on the diplomatic row between Britain and Argentina conflict over the Falklands Islands.
